Join Montana Jewish Project and Emmy award-winning journalist Clay Scott on May 17 for an introduction to gathering histories in your community. Based on the Living Stories project at Montana Jewish Project, this introduction will teach participants basic skills in oral history. After a brief overview of Clay's work collecting Jewish histories in Montana, participants will learn how to formulate questions to reach for significant memories and history; they will understand how to identify the most interesting parts of an answer; and they will learn how to operate recording equipment for high quality preservation. This session will include time to practice asking questions and to use recording equipment. How to Collect Living Stories will take place at Lewis & Clark Library from 1-2:30 PM.
