Make a Gift

The Montana Jewish Project (MJP) is delighted to announce that we received our tax-exempt designation from the Internal Revenue Service! MJP is officially a 501 (c) (3) organization. All donations made to MJP, whether made through our online donation page or sent to us as checks, are tax-deductible

We applied for our IRS designation in the first days of our organization. At the time, we used the name Phoenix Project—both to honor the resurgence of Jewish life in Montana that our work represented, and to honor Marcus Lissner, one of Montana’s pioneer Jews, who rebuilt his famous International Hotel in Helena so many times after it burned downed that the community called it the Phoenix. But as we honed our mission to serve as a statewide Jewish community and cultural center, we decided we needed a name that reflected the scope of all we plan to do. So we filed paperwork with the Montana Secretary of State to do business as The Montana Jewish Project.

For this reason, when you search for MJP on the IRS database, it’s easiest to use our EIN: 870854587 or search for Phoenix Project.

If you are trying to donate using your Fidelity account, you may encounter an issue finding the Montana Jewish Project (or the Phoenix Project) and our EIN in Fidelity’s database, despite MJP being current in the IRS 501 (c) (3) database. If this is the case, please contact us at (406) 282-4706 or info@montanajewishproject.com and we can guide you.

Thank you for your generous support of our work!
